I hit my head twice!

In Countdown on August 14, 2011 by Edelweiss Tagged: ,

I started to track the times I’ve hit my head (hard!) here in an effort to document what I’m sure will be a future medical condition. Then I magically stopped hitting my head.

Until now….

We have a towel hanger inside our shower. I’m not sure why, since it gets soaked every time we take a shower. But it likes to assault the top of my head when I bend down and thenĀ  the side of my head when I straighten up.

Note: Did this while watching “There’s Something Wrong with Aunt Diane“, probably stopped me from turning into a blubbering mess.

Repurposing “Love Means Never Having to Say You’re Sorry”

In Read or Overheard on August 12, 2011 by Edelweiss Tagged: ,

I haven’t read Love Story and I saw the movie when I was too young to understand it. Therefore I only know this quote out of context, but it has always driven me crazy.

As a stubborn little lady, sometimes I think my greatest acts of love to Walrus are being humble enough to acknowledge I was wrong and apologize for it (on those rare moments I’m wrong!).

I’ve just decided to repurpose the quote into a context that makes sense to me and can help rewrite the narrative of our gender.

Love (of yourself) means never having to say you’re sorry.

30 Day Challenge: Make Things Pretty: Day 11

Day 11 (last night) Continued with Project Abandoned Embroidery

Start Time – 10:30pm

End Time– 11:00pm

Continuing to post pictures of the hem isn’t that exciting. I’m not very crafty (more life a crafter wanna be). Most of my friends are surprised I can sew, and a little intimidated to try themselves.

Basic sewing is very easy. If I can do it, anyone can do it. So if you’re sew intimidated, here’s a Youtube How To!

In Which News Sadness has Nothing to do with the Debt and Instead Involves Making a Pie

In Read or Overheard on August 11, 2011 by Edelweiss Tagged: , ,

I’m a little news obsessed. I wake up an hour early each day so I don’t leave the house without knowing the local news – then I track other events throughout the day.

I also have decided the newscasters I let in my living room are my acquaintances. Therefore it’s totally appropriate to make fun of them, feel proud when they do something special and gossip to Walrus about them.

With all this news watching and analyzing there’s almost always something funny or bizarrely strange in the course of the week.

I love you Mika, but this picture is hysterical (photo from http://www.justjared.buzznet.com)

Day 10 (last night) Continued with Project Abandoned Embroidery

Start Time – 10:00pm

End Time– 10:30pm

I wrote yesterday about hitting a hump with this challenge and lacking motivation. Continuing the hem on this embroidery project has been a nice, meditative way for me to relax and enjoy the challenge again.

30 Day Challenge: Make Things Pretty: Day 9

In Talking on August 10, 2011 by Edelweiss Tagged: ,

Every day for the next 30 days I’ll spend at least 30 minutes making something prettier (or admiring beauty and therefore making my mind pretty!).

Day 9 (last night) Picked up an abandoned embroidery project that might turn into a pillowcase.

Start Time – 9:30pm

End Time– 10:00pm

I’m not gonna lie. The 30 Day Challenge is definitely starting to feel like homework. I may have stomped around the house, pulled out my embroidery and pouted for awhile.

I'm pouting at the other end of my camera looking at my decidedly unpretty embroidery container.

mmm…Turkey Burgers!

In Talking on August 10, 2011 by Edelweiss Tagged: , ,

I’m saying eff the ground turkey recall and making turkey burgers tonight (and grilled corn!)!

I am very excited.

Walrus resisted the idea of turkey burgers for awhile until I finally convinced him to let me make them. He is now on the light, burgery deliciousness bandwagon with me.

Here’s the recipe I converted him with (although now we make many different styles). Tonight will be similar to this, but I’m noting some variations in italics.

Divine Intervention on my Bi-annual Identity Dilemma

In Talking on August 9, 2011 by Edelweiss

So, I kinda freaked myself out with the post I wrote the other day highlighting all the changes that have happened in the past 6 years.

Walrus and I are looking forward to having a couple of years of stability. At the same time I know myself. I like having goals and I don’t like standing still. I will be looking for a new challenge sometime soon.

When I reflect on all the changes I’ve been through and the changes my slightly older friends have been through. The predictable next steps seem to involve babies and/or houses. We don’t know where we want to settle long-term (if anywhere), so house is out, leaving…

Babies.
